Search "best VPN" and you get forty near-identical top-10 lists. That is not an accident - it is the affiliate market working as designed. A single signup pays a review site $50-150+, several of the biggest brands are owned by the same few conglomerates, and some "independent" reviewers are owned by the VPN companies themselves.

vpncomparison.org takes the opposite approach: every claim carries an evidence class, every source is dated, the ownership graph is public, the incident timeline is public, and the ranking code physically cannot read affiliate data. When the honest answer is "you don't need a paid VPN for this", we say so.

// What we are not

We are not anonymous, not a whistleblower platform, and not a substitute for Tor when anonymity matters. We are a well-sourced map of an industry that spends a lot of money to look simpler than it is.

The site is young. Coverage of the long tail grows every week; scores are provisional until our own test phase runs (leak tests, speed, kill switch - clearly marked as "not self-tested yet" per provider). Corrections with evidence are always welcome: contact.
