Slick VPN is a complex business structure with multiple layers of Offshore Holding Companies, Subsidiary Holding Companies, and finally some Operating Companies to help protect their interests. The main marketing entity for their business is based in the United States of America and an operational entity is based out of Nevis.

This is somewhat complicated, but it shows that they are clear and exceptionally straightforward, as to what they are. With exclusive features such as HYDRA Multi-Hop, they claim to offer the most secure pathway to online navigation. Let’s find out more about them in our Slick VPN review.

Slick VPN Features

slickvpn benefitsAs far as the features are concerned, Slick VPN has done an impressive work! They offer servers in well over 46 countries and 142 cities in the world. Their network is constantly expanding, although it is quite decent now. They have circumvented Netflix bans so far, which is another plus. Read more about geo-blocking.

Unlimited speed and bandwidth, infinite reconnections and server switches are all great features to seek in a VPN company. Up to five simultaneous connections are allowed, from maximum two IP addresses. They also offer IP and DNS leak protection. They use the exclusive, innovative HYDRA Multi-Hop Feature and this offers an added security layer.

If you are familiar with the legend of Hercules and the Lernean Hydra (a monster with many snake heads), you know why they have used this name. Scramble is another impressive feature, which makes it much more difficult for packet inspection to disable a user’s VPN connection. File sharing is allowed, since they do not monitor the activities of users.

Static IP addresses are available for all the customers, while PPTP, IPsec and OpenVPN security protocols are supported, with 256-bit encryption. This is a great package of features, enabling fast and hassle-free, perfectly secured navigation to the web. The list of the servers’ locations is as follows:

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Kosovo, Romania, Russian Federation, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States

Slick VPN & Online Security

Advanced encryption is available in Slick VPN, thanks to the OpenVPN security protocol supported. 256-bit encryption is offered, as well as PPTP and IPsec for those who need something else. No logs are kept whatsoever, making it a safe environment that promotes anonymity and privacy.

Moreover, there is the exclusive HYDRA Multi-Hop Feature that adds to the online security with an extra layer. Scramble is another added bonus in terms of security, making it much harder for packet inspection to disable a user’s VPN connection. They recommend using the Slick VPN client, which uses the OpenVPN protocol on Windows and OSX computers.

Slick VPN Pricing & Plans

Slick VPN Pricing

slick pricingSlick VPN has got a monthly plan starting at $10. However, you can use the option of buying blocks of several days, at $0.75 per day. Three months are available to you at $6.67 per month, while the semi-annual plan costs $5 per month.

The best value for money is of course the yearly plan, which only costs $4 per month. So, you can save 60% off the initial price. 30 day full money refund guarantee is available, making it risk-free to try out the services of Slick VPN.

However, no direct free trial is offered. Stay tuned for regular coupons, with generous discounts. When it comes to the accepted payment methods, there is great flexibility: Credit Cards, PayPal, Bitcoin, Checks and Money Orders are all acceptable. Especially Bitcoin is a huge plus for users who seek utter anonymity.

Slick VPN & Customer Support

Following our Slick VPN review, it is time for the customer support. Sadly, no live chat is offered on their website. This would be a great asset, since many people wish to get an immediate answer to their inquiries via live chat, operating 24/7. Email support via a contact form is rather limiting, although we have to admit that the feedback was quicker than anticipated.

In addition to the email service, clients may navigate through the knowledgebase on the site of Slick VPN. More than that, the company is active on Facebook and Twitter. We would welcome the addition of other forms of contact, in the near future.

The Website

The website of Slick VPN is modern and easy to navigate. Everything is laid out in a convenient way, offering tons of information easily and without any hassle. The site is HTTPS protected, of course. For logging in to your account, you use the button on the top right side of the home page. All the other pieces of information can be found, either on the top menu or by scrolling down and reading more about Slick VPN.

Signing Up

You need to pick a plan (block, monthly, three-six-twelve months) and subscribe to Slick VPN, since there is no free plan offered on the site. The only details you will need for setting up a new account include your first and last name, email address and password. You tick the box on whether or not you wish to get their newsletter upon signing up. Everything is completed in just moments, very easy and simple!

Using Slick VPN on Windows

Slick VPN client works on both Windows and Mac OS. Upon logging in to your account, all the information is given to you. You instantly download the software that matches your device criteria and you are in. The interface of the app is simple, even though it is not fancy.

However, you can fully control your connections and even run speed tests of the various servers. You can either choose core locations or closest locations, in order to facilitate your experience. At the preferences, you can choose to have Slick VPN starting when switching your device on. You also get an IP checker.

Slick VPN and Speed & Performance

On all the servers we have tested, the results have been rather decent. The download speed slightly varied from 4.78 to 4.81 Mbps, while the upload speed reached from 0.63 to 0.68 Mbps. There were not any disconnections throughout the test and this is definitely a good thing, ensuring great consistency.

Other Platforms

Slick VPN supports all devices, which helps you enjoy its services no matter where you want to connect from. They do recommend OpenVPN as the most advanced security protocol out there. Still, they have got setup guides for all security protocols. Slick VPN client works on Windows and Mac OS. They include setup guides for Android and iOS devices, too. Viscosity setup guide is also available on your account’s dashboard. They have got routers for purchase on their site, for you to have a look and possibly connect to.

Bottom Line

Now that we have finished with our Slick VPN review, we can conclude as to their pros and cons, as well as their quality altogether. Firstly, we need to embrace the presence of many impressive special features.

HYDRA Multi-Hop feature, for connecting to multiple secure gateways at once and Scramble, for making it much more difficult for packet inspection to disable a user’s VPN connection, enable you to remain even more securely connected to the web. The price for the monthly plan is average, with the cool ability to buy blocks of days at $0.75 per day.

The yearly plan offers great value for money, with the addition of the 30-day full money refund guarantee. OpenVPN is the recommended VPN security protocol, with 256-bit encryption. They allow P2P file sharing, as they do not monitor the activities of users and they do not keep any logs.

They actually have servers in the locations we claim to have a server, unlike some providers. So, this is a cool thing, with their network stretching to 46 countries. Payment methods are flexible, with Bitcoin and PayPal being the most secured options to consider.

On the downside, the customer support does not include live chat. This can prevent some users from getting the instant feedback that they need. Slick VPN client works on Windows and Mac, not on Android and iOS devices. Last, the interface of the software is not too modern and fancy. In a nutshell, the pros and cons of Slick VPN are the following:

Pros

  • OpenVPN as recommended security protocol
  • P2P file sharing allowed
  • 30 day full money refund guarantee
  • No logs are kept
  • Up to five simultaneous connections from 2 IP addresses

Cons

  • There is no live chat
  • Customer support does not include live chat
  • Limited Slick VPN client for Windows and Mac
  • Software interface a bit basic

To my surpise, Slickvpn gave other top VPNs a run for their money in the speed tests. Used it over a prolonged period of time and tested various severs around the world and recorded marginal speed drops as compared to Cyberghost. At half the price of other VPNs, Slickvpn offers excellent value at $5/month.
