BC_Rnd_64pxAstrill VPN is a company located in Seychelles, thus avoiding any restrictions applied to VPN companies within the area of the US or the EU. Their network is pretty good, consisting of over 250 VPN servers in well over 50 countries. They are ambitious, as they aim at taking over the VPN market, according to their own quote from the website. Among its major advantages, Astrill VPN provides advanced data encryption and quality add-ons, with quite a decent speed and no bumps along the way. Let’s find out more about them below, as we lay out our Astrill VPN review.

Starting out our Astrill VPN review, let’s have a closer look at the features provided to the subscribers. First and foremost, we have outlined the constant expansion of their network (currently holding 254 VPN servers in 54 countries and growing as we speak). It offers unlimited speed and bandwidth, while it is fully compatible with the demands of the market today, meaning that you will get no trouble using Astrill VPN on any OS or device. One thing that we have found restrictive is the use of up to 2 devices at one time from a single account. This gets even more restrictive, since only one can be from desktop or laptop users and the one from mobile iOS or Android users. On the bright side, there is a plethora of great add-ons that you can enjoy (the downside is that they are all available at an added cost). Some of these add-ons include NAT Firewall, Home Plan, StealthVPN, ProAddon, VPN Sharing, CryptoPlus, Private IPs and the VIP Plan.

Astrill VPN Pricing & Plans

There are three different plans that you can choose from at Astrill VPN. The first one is the quarterly plan at $29.95. This makes approximately $9.98 per month and it is not that cheap. The half-year plan is offered at $39.95 (6.66 per month), whereas the best value for money comes with the annual plan at $69.95 (5.83 every month). A free trial is provided to those who wish to test the services on offer by Astrill VPN and can last up to 7 days. No money refund guarantee is mentioned anywhere, though. Fortunately, there is great flexibility when it comes to the payment methods. Besides the use of Bitcoins (which is great for anonymity), you can also select among credit cards and debit cards, e-wallets and bank transfer etc.

Astrill VPN Online Security

OpenWeb, Open VPN, PPTP, L2TP, Cisco IPSec, L2TP/IPSec, SSTP and IKEv2 are all supported with the subscription to one of the Astrill VPN plans. The great add-ons that you can get (at an extra price, as we have mentioned above) offer you the opportunity to enhance your online security layering even further. SSL-256 bit encryption is available, making Astrill VPN a reliable solution, in terms of online protection. In addition, the use of Bitcoins can be proven exceptionally helpful to promote anonymity. No logs are kept, according to their terms of use and their privileged location, outside the strict legislation of the US.

Astrill VPN Customer Support

As far as customer support is concerned, Astrill VPN provides quite a few different methods for contacting them. Wiki, Support Ticket, Live Chat, and Remote Desktop Assistance are all alternatives given to the VPN subscribers, in order to help them out with their VPN connection. Live chat is the best option, so as to avoid waiting for a response. Their feedback is immediate and the quality of services is quite remarkable. There is a FAQ section, a blog and knowledgebase, where you can find everything you need. In avoidance of experimenting with the setup process, detailed setup guides are also available. An email is another option for you, as well as Skype calls and a phone. For more details on the support, you can check here.

Astrill VPN Speed & Performance

We have highlighted earlier within our Astrill VPN review that the VPN offered by this Seychelles registered company is fully compatible. This means that you can use it on a plethora of OS and devices, such as Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Android, DD-WRT, Tomato/TomatoUSB, Asus Merlin/ RMerl /ASUS WRT-Merlin firmware routers, Synology NAS and Chrome OS (Chromium). In the field of speed, Astrill VPN is really fast and therefore it is a wonderful option for those who want to engage in file sharing or live streaming. Though there have been some times when the performance appeared glitches, nothing was too irritating to handle. With the numbers of VPN servers in use, server switching is always a reliable option at peak times.

Bottom Line

At the end of our Astrill VPN review, we have found out that overall, the VPN service provider that is registered in Seychelles can live up to the challenge of getting a fair share of the VPN market. You can get advanced encryption and a wide array of add-ons, which can help you out make the most out of your VPN experience. The speed is fast and there is no problem emerging while switching from server to server. There are many servers available for you to choose from worldwide (254 and still growing), while the free trial is an exquisite way for you to see if the VPN services are to your liking or not.

The flexibility of support and payment method completes the advantages. On the other hand, the VPN is quite expensive (especially the quarterly plan going up to $9.98 per month). Add-ons cost much to add without any second thought. The full money refund guarantee is non-existent. There is a restriction of up to 2 simultaneous devices in use, with one mobile and one laptop – desktop. This can be annoying to some. In a nutshell, the pros and cons of Astrill VPN are the following:

  • No logs kept, based on their policy and location
  • SSL 256 bit data encryption is on offer
  • Super-fast speed
  • 7 –day free trial
  • Flexibility in payment, with Bitcoins

  • 2 simultaneous devices with restrictions
  • Expensive plans
  • Add-ons making the plans even more expensive
  • No money refund guarantee

Astrill is the only VPN I trusted. I used StrongVPN in the past, expecting to get better service. Unfortunately, it sucks. I’m happy to be back to Astrill. StrongVPN is a waste of money! I will not change VPN again unless Astrill closes their company. Thank you, Astrill!

I used NordVPN before and I didn’t like it. I’ve switched to Astrill and it’s much faster and better!

I’m happy with Astrill, works really good on my laptop and android. I was using PureVPN before, it’s not working for me.

my exp with astrill was not good because they blocked my account due to multiple servers switching and hard refund policy.
